Shake and bake!

Yeah I know I’m really late to this, bit I just watched Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and besides being a great parody of NASCAR and Southern culture it has a damn fine soundtrack. Things kick off with Roger Miller’s classic ” “King of the Road.” Then there’s Waylon Jenninings’ “Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line.” Lot’s of Steve Earle, Classic Bon Scott AC DC, and the creidts run over a great cover of “Gentle on My Mind” by Lucinda Williams. The soundtrack doesn’t seem to be for sale. Drag!

  1. True. But then I’d miss out on clips like this from the movie:

Cal Naughton, Jr.: I like to think of Jesus as a mischievous badger.

Texas Ranger: The teacher asked me what was the capital of North Carolina. I said Washington, D.C.
    Cal Naughton, Jr.: Bingo.
    Ricky Bobby: Nice.
Texas Ranger: She said “No, you’re wrong.” I said “You got a lumpy butt.” She got mad at me and yelled at me and I pissed in my pants and I never did change my pee-pants all day. I’m still sittin’ in my dirty pee-pants.
Cal Naughton, Jr.: I wet my bed until I was nineteen. There’s no shame in that.

Ricky Bobby: Hey there. I got my liscence taken away. That’s why I’m here.
Man on the Subway: Mothafucka, what makes you think I care? Shut the fuck up!
Ricky Bobby: I was just saying… you know… its a real problem
Man on the Subway: Problem? I don’t give a damn about your problems! My momma lost her leg. My uncle lost his testicle! Those are problems!
Ricky Bobby: I really regret opening my mouth to you.

Ricky Bobby: Wow. I feel like I’m in Highlander!
