The proprietors of the fine country music blog the 9513, have posted a review of the Austin stop of the Nelson/Haggard/Price and Asleep at the Wheel “Last of the Breed” show (the 3/16 or the 3/17 show, the exact show is not mentioned). Be warned, there are a few spoilers detailed for those of you (like me) waiting for the show to come through your town. But even after reading this great review (I always love it when true fans review shows) it doesn’t wain the anticipation one bit. Here’s a taste:
In the middle of “Okie From Muskogee†he was joined by Willie Nelson and guitar, Trigger. Afterwards, Willie pondered out loud, how about a little “Pancho & Lefty?†The crowd went wild. My heart began racing, I glanced at Brady, he smiled back. This was one of the moments I had been waiting for my entire life.
I’ll be doing my own review after Thurday’s show at Radio City Music Hall. I hope I can do these legends as much a tribute as the 9513 has.
I was so excited when Willie came out, even though I knew that that was when he was coming out.
I could hear Willie’s guitar, Trigger, before I say him, and it was so exciting. The crowd went crazy, but the crowd was cheering a lot through the nights I saw them.
Willie improvised a little, “…..where even squares can have a ball, ball, ball, ball….”
I look forward to your review of the NYC show; are you taking any pictures?
I’m going to try and take some with my little snapper.
You better wear a cowboy hat and boots… yeeeehaw
Can’t wait to read your review. How close will you be to the stage?
Oh yea, we went to the 3/17 show.
