I’m headed home to Dallas to visit the ‘rents for the 4th of July weekend and had planned to head out to Ft. Worth to catch Willie Nelson’s picnic. And what does the Texas Yoda go and do? Moves the dang picnic to the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Wash., about 150 miles east of Seattle.
Insult in injury it’s one of the best line-ups in years with a distict alt flavor – Son Volt, Dallas’ recently reunited Old 97s and a newly Jason Isbell-less Drive-By Truckers.
I guess that July heat was finally getting to him.
I don’t know, but I think everyone lost money on it at the StockYards. There was the pre-picnic concert the night before at Carl’s Corner on the 3rd of July, and that bit into the attendees at the stockyard. But, if he had to move it, why not move it to Colorado, where I am? Looks so hard to get to the Gorge. I’m still deciding. It’s hard to miss a picnic, but it’s reserved seating. Willie’s Club Luck is pre-selling tickets on 5/8, and I think I will see if I can get any front row tickets, and let that help make my decision. He’s doing that free show in Montana on 7/3/07, for the residents of Choteau, and I am going to send in a postcard to win one of the 200 tickets offered to out-of-towners. I think it would be fun to go there. David Letterman is sponsoring that concert; he has a ranch near Choteau, Montana.
I agree with Linda about all of it and if there are front row tickets available, I can say this will be my first picnic to attend.
I would like to know why he decided to move to after all these years. I mean Willie personifies Texas! I wonder if the George W. thing pushed him over the edge…
Caroline, have you even figured out how to get there? Reserved seats will be a change for a picnic, won’t it?
I don’t know why it’s not in Texas, Baron. Willie has skipped years in the past, with no picnic. I thought there wasn’t going to be a picnic, then this came up; maybe it fit in with his schedule, and it was on the fourth. But, Caroline, how can it be a picnic with no Billy Joe Shaver and Johnny Bush?
been to 4 picnics all in texas travelled from new zealand hell …….reserved seats that aint no picnic…..the picnic outside texas….willies losing it…….
yeah, I don’t know what he’s thinking but it seems all wrong to me.
I Love it! I am a big willie fan and I happen to live and run a farm outside the small town of George, Washington! I got my tickets and I am ready to go! God bless Willie!
You’ll have a great time, Nr Neff. the Texas Yoda never disappoints!
Thanks Mr. Lane and don’t worry the picnic will be back in texas before you know it!
Sorry to say but I got drunk and passed out before willie. It is a shame!
Too bad, but Willie would take it as the highest compliment I’m sure.
